Juergen, I wanted to add to this: the quotation is priceless! It's just what we need in our world today. Unfortunately, the old fears so often creep in and people hang on to their national/ethnic/cultural boundaries with fear-filled tenacity.
How do we past that to see one another as human beings, citizens of the world?
Jacob, that is a question since human beings exist, I think. For myself I found an answer over the course of many philosophical studies. We need to admit one's responsibility that we have one world and one future only. If we agree that condition, then we can try to convey this feeling to our family, friends and acquaintances.
